Nintendo DS Lite Review
Well well well, if it isn’t the Apple DS, err I mean the DS Lite. How quaint that you finally managed to make it stateside. Yep, as soon as the DS Lite hit stores, I made a mad rush to pick one up. Sure, I’m not the first one to own one, but I love the little machine nonetheless.
I think I should start by saying that the DS Lite replaced my PSP. Last summer like many others, I got sucked in by the promise of the PSP and was completely let down a year later. Sure, there are some solid games for the PSP, but at $50 a game, they aren’t worth it when compared to Tetris DS, Brain Age, and Mario Kart. UMD was kindof cool, but overall I’m just plain disappointed that the PSP was nothing more than a portable PS2 with PS2 games that were ummm portable. PS2 games are fun, but c’mon. I want portable fun with NO LOAD TIMES! I don’t want to spend a minute waiting to play a game when I only have 5 minutes to spare.*end PSP rant*
So, if you haven’t guessed yet, I’m glad to be rid of my PSP. How do I like the iDS? err DS Lite? I love it. It’s a fantastic little portable with great games. Also, it’s pretty cheap all things considered. Using my extra trade-in cash I bought Mario Kart DS, which is another fantastic title. Overall, after borrowing my buddy’s DS for a month, I really love the DS Lite. It’s bright, it’s small, and it delievers a lot of fun.
Now, the downside? I think the biggest problem with the DS Lite is that for those of us with bigger hands, it feels a bit cramped. There isn’t much to hold on to and that makes it hard to play Mario Kart for too long without getting sore fingers. It’s not that big of a deal, but I needed to gripe about something didn’t I? Anyhow, if you are thinking about getting a DS Lite, I strongly encourage it. It’s a great game machine and it’s got the most fun games out there. Mario Kart RAWKS!!!!!
